For those who want to skip the fanfare, here’s a doc explaining everything in shorter terms.
====================================
*boop boop* This thing’s working? You hearing everything? Aight.
Howdy everyone! You’re probably here because you were sent a letter telling you to come here. Sorry if said letter annoyed you, but we’re kind of in need of some help.
If you did not come here from the letter, I am scared of your lightning-fast reactions.
I’ll get to the crust of the problem to spare you time.
You see the wall with the beautiful banner we have behind us? That’s been here since we’ve set up this little community, and long story short, no wall can last that long without falling into disrepair.
Now, we have plans to REBUILD THE WALLS (sorry, I saw my chance), but we figured, why not repaint them while we can, and make ‘em even bigger?
Unfortunately, none of us have historically been proven to have drawing skills. The best our team has come up with is a depiction of two beans kissing each other, with… some other minor details we will not explore.
“Can’t you just get an artist to do it?” Yeah, but the WEC said, “Why not make it an event instead?” So here we are!
====================================
Now, to the rules of this contest.
Let’s start with a fun fact: Did you know we have 2 banners for light mode and dark mode?
Yup. Magic is great, huh?
Since this is possible, we’ll be hosting 2 categories, one for a light mode background and one for a dark mode background.
This should allow a great deal of creativity for everyone! Think of all the cool little differences and easter eggs you can add!
The size should not matter much, though we’d recommend it big (FANDOM recommends 2880x2880px) to keep a good image quality.
Submissions are already open, and you have, uh, a month for this contest. That means submissions will end on… September 15th, 12:00 PM CST.
How can you submit, you may ask? Simply create a blog post by going here!
Upload your submission on the blog, write down what category you want to submit it to (yes you can put submissions for both categories on the same page), and add your post to Category:2024WBAC, and you’re good to go!
If you have any problems with submitting (or like, with anything lol), you can send a message on my Message Wall! (or any active staff member’s Message Wall.)
There’s also a detailed guide in the Google Doc linked above, along with rules you MUST abide by for this contest, but I’ll link it here again in case you’re too lazy to scroll :)
After the 1 month has wrapped up, we’ll gather up all the submissions, and we’ll pick out the top 5 in each category! These finalists will compete in one final poll to find T H E C H O S E N O N E, where you guys are the voters!
What will the winners get? A shiny Medal, forged straight from the fires of… our backyard. Look we don't have much space to work with ok
How will we be judging? We don’t know :). Though to maximize your chances, I’ll give you a few tips:
Once again, be creative with what you do for each category! Best to create contrasts and add flavor. For example, try a much more active scene in daylight and a peaceful one under moonlight.
Try to stay short and simple though! We don’t want readers getting distracted by your beautiful artwork now, do we? :)
Take a look at a typical wiki page.
Notice how the only visible parts are on the side and a little at the top? Try adding the bulk of the details on the sides and be simpler for the middle. A bit against the usual drawing practices, I know.
Try scrolling through other wikis for inspiration! Two I found that look pretty good are from Gotham Wiki and Vocaloid Wiki.
Aight, that’s about it! Run wild and free with your ideas!
(If you’re still confused about anything, check out the Google Doc, again conveniently relinked here! Or spam my Message Wall. Please don’t actually spam my wall though, 1 post is enough.)
(Edit: Forgot to add in the original post, but you can view all submissions as they're being made here!)
