Principal SecretaryJob Summary: The Principal Secretaryprovides a high level of secretarial, administrative, and operational support to the Principal.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, advanced degree preferred;
- Proficiency/Experience with Student Information Systems, (FPS currently uses X2/Aspen, knowledge experience preferred);
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, as well as other software;
- Ability to navigate through various computer programs while multitasking and responding to school-based needs;
- Works cooperatively and effectively in a team environment;
- Possess knowledge of computers for word processing, data management, information retrieval, telecommunications, and database and spreadsheet programs, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs, and ASPEN;
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing;
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment to support daily operations;
- Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work collaboratively;
- Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve;
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders;
- Belief in the commitment to increasing personal growth, both academic and social-emotional, to obtain the highest level of achievement for every student.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Schedule and screen all principal's appointments and communications;
- Maintain staff data in X-2 and ConnectEd, including staff attendance;
- Direct oversight of all timesheets, paycheck distribution for hourly staff, and stipend positions;
- Direct oversight of FHS budget including preparation and organization of purchase orders;
- Create and maintain the FHS Calendar of Events;
- Direct oversight of the school's "Building Use Calendar" - processing Building Use Forms;
- May assist in annual fundraiser for Scholar's Banquet;
- Prepare Honor Roll for publication in local papers;
- Direct oversight and planning of student functions - Senior Awards Night, Underclassmen Awards & Graduation;
- Direct communication with the public including parents, vendors, etc;
- Direct access to the building through the secure entrance;
- Direct oversight of Work Permits for the community;
- Support and assist district security procedures;
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all aspects of the role;
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.

Terms Of Employment/Salary/Work Year12-month work year. As negotiated by the Fitchburg School Committee and the Fitchburg Education Association (FEA).
