Chapter Text
"Gusion." Narinder said, summoning his scythe and grinning gently. "Looks like you're done fighting alone, Lamb." He said, moving to their side.
"Just make sure to work with me, and not hog all the glory, Narinder." They retort, nudging him with their elbow as they grip their sword tight.
"No promises." Narinder replies, his grin growing wider as he rushes forward, leaping up and slashing the beast's hide, before kicking off of it and sliding across the ground. "Definitely tougher than Leshy's Disciples.."
The Lamb shoots a light-hearted glare at him for a moment, before slashing the Conduit Blade at Gusion. It sends a wave of fire at them, searing through the beast and causing it to roar and leap up, trying to crush The Lamb. The Lamb, however, was prepared for this, and slid under it, dragging their blade across its belly, ripping into its flesh, but not getting deep enough to do lethal damage.
Gusion lands on the ground, and their throat begun to bulge as they spat out a massive egg, leaping at Narinder next. Narinder rolls back, just barely avoiding its jump, countering by slashing his scythe down through it's face, leaving a large gash across it. The beast roars with fury, spitting balls of fire at Narinder. He bats most of the fireballs away, but takes one to his chest, thudding against the wall.
"You're actually tougher than I gave you credit for.." Narinder laughs softly, watching as it leaps at them. He raises his hand, and a red glow appeared in his palm. Suddenly, chains pierced through its stomach, up from the ground, yanking the beast back down to the ground with a slam.
The Lamb was about to rush and help Narinder, but as they went to help, a toad slams into the side of their head, out from the giant egg. "f*cking hell.. you little sh*t." The Lamb growls, slashing through the next of the toads leaping at them.
The Lamb then stabs through the one that hit it, flinging it up into the air and swinging the blade once more, sending a slash of flame to destroy it completely. They turn to Narinder, taking pause for a moment. What kind of curse is that? It feels different from his usual..
Narinder grins a bit, putting both hands on his scythe once more. "Lamb, come!" He called. The Lamb nods quickly, rushing to Narinder's side. Narinder nods back to The Lamb, and he grips his scythe tighter, as Gusion struggles against the chains. Narinder leaps up, slashing down at their head. The Lamb, for their attack, slams their blade into its jaw, slashing it through its face and sending a burst of flame chasing their strike.
Gusion falls to the ground as the chains fade, their body burning up, leaving only its skeleton. Inside its bones, Gusion sat cowering in fear. Narinder presses the bones aside, giving The Lamb a nod. "Good work."
Gusion cowers more as Narinder approached, trying to crawl away, to no avail. Below them, a portal to the cults grounds appears. "You'll be joining us now, Gusion." He said with a grin. Gusion falls into the portal, and a podium appears before them, with a large present standing on it. Narinder gently takes it, glancing to The Lamb. "Would you like this? I don't suspect I'll have need for it."
The Lamb pants, stepping over and smiling a bit. "I'd love it." They say, stopping next to him.
Narinder places it in their hands, nodding a bit. "Wanna open it now, or wait till we're home?"
The Lamb shrugs a bit. "Might as well go home and open it, since then we'll be safer, right?"
Narinder nods, taking hold of their arm. "Then come along, Lamb." He says, opening a portal beneath them and returning the the cult's grounds again.
The pair lands on the pentagram at the edge of their land, with The Lamb holding the gift in their arms.
"Now, lets see you open it." Narinder says, crossing his arms and watching them.
The Lamb tears the gift's wrapping, which turned to ash as they were tossed aside. Inside, there was a Golden, two-barred cross, with a pair of red gems at the intersections. The Lamb picks it up, smiling happily. "It's beautiful.." The Lamb said softly.
"It is pretty, isn't it?" Narinder chuckles, gently running his finger along the bar of the cross. "I'd rather make it myself, of course.. but you deserve at least something from the spoils of our conquest." He said with a smile.
The Lamb smiles a bit wider in return, hugging him. "Maybe next time you can make it, then."
Narinder pats their wool, chuckling softly. "Maybe so.. but I do not have plans to make gifts for you just yet.. We do have a crusade to focus on."
"Then I'll just have to pick up the slack and make you gifts!" They chuckle as well, their tail wagging quickly.
"A God loves offerings." He said with a nod, chuckling a bit more, gently pulling away. "Go ahead, Lamb."
"If it makes you feel better to call them offerings, sure." The Lamb teases, nudging him, before giving a yawn. "It's getting late.. I should probably sleep soon."
"Go ahead.. I need to keep watch on Valefar." Narinder said with a nod, starting to head into the cult's ground.
The Lamb nods as well, heading toward their tent to rest.
