My Sister's Keeper

What to Know

Critics Consensus

My Sister's Keeper gets fine performances from its adult and child actors, but the director's heavy-handed approach turns a worthy emotional subject into an overly melodramatic tearjerker.

Eric A Talk about a sad movie. Nice storyline Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/26/24 Full Review Mountainman Very good movie. Moving performances by the cast. The only complaint that I had was the jumping around in timeline. It was a little difficult to keep up with every one of them, but overall not too distracting. And the critics, as usual, have this one wrong. I would recommend giving this movie a watch, just keep the tissues handy... Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review D M Just be ready to cry and I mean cry. The emotional rollercoaster you go through is almost maddening. What comes after is more tears. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/29/24 Full Review Catherine R So since I'm alittle biased because I love Cameron Diaz, Jason Patric, Abigail Breslin and Joan Cusack, I'm just going to say that the mom, as stubborn and horrible as she was a few times during the film, I like how her daughter finally told her that she was going to be OK. I respect how the dad went to the doc and asked if he could take his daughter to the beach. I love how he and his wife were arguing and he finally said that for 14 yrs, his wife always got her way with their daughter but that day it was about what she wanted. And that if she didn't go w them to the beach, he wanted a divorce. Sometimes, it's nice to just get out and go somewhere that's NOT the hospital. But I am glad that the dying girl got to experience some normal teen events. Overall, good movie. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/24 Full Review Audience Member Very sad movie based on a true story - I can definitely understand the little girls position when she gets a lawyer but even crazier to learn of the twist that it’s the cancer girl behind it.
