be aggressive, don't be aggress itch, be nice, don't be nice. what is his mind set amid hours from tonight's debate? >> i have not spoken to him this morning, yesterday he was in high spirits. again, he's an increncredible - reason kamala harris ascended to the top of the democratic ticket. poll after poll talks about the need to lower inflation and talks about the need to secure our southern border and bring peace through strength at home and abroad, the need to make housing affordable, he has substance and record in contrast to kamala harris. his four years in the white house. to get the job done for the american people and that is his task this evening.

stick you use, negotiating tool. if people do not play fairly, you have to respond, tariffives are the way to respond. trump used tariffs to get people to come to the table with international trade. he can do the same thing now. that is how i would sell this to americans. this is how you give america a level playing field. all people want is a level playing field. tariffs are a way to do that on the international stage. >> todd: talk about give aways, kamala harris likes to give free things to the american people. we know nothing is truly free. you are president tonight, how do you navigate that with people watching at home thinking she's going to get rid of student loans? great. >> nothing has been free under

the biden-harris administration. they can say t handouts, they wl take it away with high inflation and high interest rates. it is inflationary and with progressives comes with package of higher taxes or more regulation, making other parts of your life worse. if i'm trump, i want to say, i will bring down cost, i am not giving you hand outs, i'm giving you your money back. reason he does that is because he knows that entrepreneurs and families are smarter than democrats in d.c. i think that resonates with america. >> todd: i think it will come down to why is kamala harris sinking in polls right now? when you talk to the average voter, they hear the word kamala and think liberal spender. if trump can drive that message

study. and comments made by reporters and the voters that they feature on abc "world news tonight" were 100 percent positive regarding kamala harris since she has become the nominee and what did you say 93% negative regarding donald trump. and, of course, david muir hosts the show. he is going to be moderating the debate tonight so this is getting attention. what do you think about it. >> folks over pyongyang and moscow must be impressed, carley. you are telling us abc, that there hasn't been one negative story to cover in kamala harris last six weeks. 100 percent positive conch and no positive stories to cover about trump? this is the network that places "the view" under its network. shouldn't be surprised certainly a long way from david brinkley and barbara waters. david koppel and david jenks. will they do what cnn did when

they had all eyes on them in atlanta in june for trump and biden and actually, to their credit, ask relevant and fair questions that the american people cared about most on policy. so here's some easy questions that i would ask kamala harris about moderator tonight. you keep saying joe biden is healthy. he is totally engaged. you said it on cnn recently. do you stand by that. if you are telling the truth about president biden's mental health and is he okay. then why are you the nominee and not joe biden? why are you using trump's border wall in your ads? did you not call the border wall medieval and ineffective? you say you are 1 hearse% for fracking at least your aides say that now you say -- you once said you were 100 percent against fracking over and over. are you flip-flopping. you need to win pennsylvania. you are 100 percent for sanctuary cities. we i do you think those works. unrealized capital gains why do you think that will work. you were for ev mandates now apparently you are against them. tell the country why. you said you wanted to

decriminalize border crossings. why is that. do you support abortion up to the moment of birth. do you think men could get pregnant. you have never run a business, what makes you think you could run the u.s. economy. those are questions american people deserves answers to. that's a good starting point. we don't know who kamala harris is. we have only heard things through her campaign aides at this point. she has barely spoken on where she stands on things. tonight is the pitt call moment biggest moment in this campaign is tonight on abc at #:00. >> undoubtedly you are right. it will be interesting to see to your point, does abc self-correct in light of those numbers that carley and i read? also, what does trump do in response if they don't self-correct? and he has to go up against the rest and kamala? that will be interesting to watch. he doesn't want to come off as combative but he needs to drive his points home ano drive his points home and not look weak. kamala harris getting debate advice from one -- two time presidential loser hillary rodham clinton. here is what hillary told the
