Didn't realise the 7000th episode was yesterday - what a let down. It was a fantastic every day episode - but nothing to mark the 7000th.
A 7000th episode isn't a huge event like Christmas or an anniversary - it has to be small and subtle.
A good example could be Anyone Can Fall in Love (Anita Dobson) and Sweetness (Michelle Gayle) playing in the background. Or Kathy getting a video call from Mary the Punk. Or Banners up for the 7000th anniversary of Walford. Or even someone winning £7000. Pick any one of those.
As it was we got nothing. The crowd crush was more exciting.
it would have been nice to get the number in there, but I do get the vibe that this entire year is the celebrations the guest stars.

I really hope Kat starts to admit what is happening with Tommy.
Tommy is such an angry little boy and it was the right decision for Stacey not to take him in either, she has 3 children and 1 grandchild in the house.
The fact that Tommy called the twins 'rats', slagged off Alfie and said that Kat was worse than all of them is not just teenage angst, there is something more there and I hope it leads to something of a storyline than just that Tommy is playing up as a teenager, maybe something like Fragile X Syndrome.
I don't ever remember seeing a storyline about Fragile X Syndrome on any soaps and its a condition that could do with much more publicity and awareness.

Agreed on that. I have a [female] step family member with it, which tends to be milder in terms of symptom's [but have no personal idea how drastic it is for males thus in comparison].
Don't see Tommy's issues being none other than evoking his dead dad / Phil's 'Tough Man' mantra rubbing off on him, though [Alfie has been a terrible dad / role model, even if not as bad Philith].

I agreed with Stacey's decision to say no to Kat; if Tommy can't be trusted around the 10-year-old twins, he's got no business living with 8-year-old Arthur, 7-year-old Hope and 1-year-old Charli. And as Alfie said, the social probably wouldn't have permitted it anyway.
I get she doesn't want Tommy taken away but she's being wildly irresponsible regarding Bert and Ernie's safety and it's unbelievably unfair on them. The way she's going on, you'd think Tommy was the victim here instead of the twins.

It’s annoying me how blasé everyone (except Teddy) is acting over Ravi literally hanging a child by his ankles from a railway bridge with barely an apology.

This is a really interesting story to cover. Another good episode. Interesting that Uncle Harry was mentioned. Like that EE references the past so much. And interesting to see Michelle from Doctors moonlighting as a social worker!

Great work on the Tommy/Kat story. And now dragging the other Slaters in too.
Wonder if Tommy living with Zak will become a permanent thing? That'd be interesting.Still find it SO unbelievable that Suki would pose for a pic with Nish, regardless of the grandkid. Ridiculous.
Bianca made me crease with her mentioning the murder issue 😂

So does Zac live with Martin and Priya? I thought he said he would throw Priya out, but where will she go?

'You only care about the twins' said Kat to Alfie.
Well thank god he does, because she sure as hell doesn't. Content for Tommy to use them as a punchbag, as long as he stays at home. Says nothing when he calls them 'rats'.

Maybe instead of some 'there's got to be something wrong with him' stuff that usually gets trotted out, they go down the route of kids thinking they can get away with behaving like thugs, because they know nowadays they can.
Police do next to nothing, and on the rare chance they do, the law let's them away with anything so they never get punished. That would be more true to life.

That was a good episode apart from the usual Nish nonsense - and he now looks and sounds like he could out live most of the square!
They could have dedicated a whole episode to Kat going round the square begging people to take Tommy in - comedy gold.
"Yeah sure we can take Tommy there's loads of us at the Vic that can look after him. We already look after a child and an adult with autism. And there's plenty of drunk punters he can chat to. Linda's great with kids, she's been sober for nearly 2 months now" 😂😂Tommy and Zack is a genius master stroke giving Zack something meaningful to do - although I'm not sure how realistic it is to move a child abuser right next door to their victims.

Knowing that his brothers are scared of him, they allow Tommy to pop next door with some bloke who was only fostering because his departed ex- partner persuaded him into it & has zero experience of dealing with a teen male with Tommy's particular problems. Surely he'd have been assessed properly & placed with a more appropriate & experienced foster carer outside of the immediate environment.

Plus the fact Martin lives there and hasn't passed the necessary checks.

I was all in on the Kat and Tommy story. Thought it was one of the most interesting stories that was going on in ages. And then they inserted Zack into it (one of my least favourite characters). So now I'm out!

Quite an interesting slant to put on the Tommy storyline, where Jean Slater is the most level-headed, rational, practical and sensible person involved. The behaviour of the other adults who know what he's been up to is absolutely farcical, that they'd cover up these multiple instances of outright violence. I thought that Phil might pull one of his kidnapping stunts on Tommy and frighten him half to death to show him that he's not tough at all, but I'm glad they didn't go this route (yet, anyway).
It's one of the classic soap tropes where you sit watching it and say to yourself "You'd just call the police/ambulance/social" (delete as appropriate) and yet they'll do anything but, because of this ridiculous universally held soap view that the social and the "old bill" only want to deliberately ruin people's lives.

Why are Suki and Vinny seemingly not bothered about the fact their businesses have been handed over to Nish's illegitimate son and his kids?
They're still behaving as if they have a stake in them

Quickly has forgotten his x girlfriend and Baby.
