Kenneth Lee Stiles was born April 2, 1945 at St. Teresa Hospital in Beaumont. His parents were Vernon Leroy and Shirley Mae Raney Stiles. He lived in Port Neches and graduated in 1961. Kenneth joined the Army in 1965 and served in Vietnam in the 173rd Airborne as an E-5 Sergeant. He also received a purple heart and other combat medals while serving. In 1967 he married Sandra Smith and they lived in Port Neches, Nederland, and then Lumberton. Kenneth was a journeyman electrician with Local 479 until he retired. He worked at many refineries for various companies. He enjoyed many outdoor activities: fishing, dirt bikes, his Harley motorcycle, and the latest was driving on mountain trails in his Jeep. Salma Mehio was an angel who touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of being in her presence. She came to America from Lebanon with her four children and raised them fearlessly and selflessly on her own. He was born February 2, 1929, in Beaumont, to Opal Collins Herrington McKinley and Charles Aaron McKinley, Jr. Charles loved deer hunting and fishing in Bolivar Bay. He served in the United States Coast Guard and the National Guard. Charles retired from Amerpol-Synpol rubber production plant in Port Neches. He was an excellent carpenter. He was always willing to help others and will forever be remembered as a loving father, husband, and grandfather. Survivors include his children, Charles A. Marion Catherine Thompson, 101, of Nederland, died Monday, June 17, 2024. She was born March 5, 1923, in Reading, Pennsylvania, to Anna Herman Mertz and Frank Mertz. Survivors include her son, Gilbert “Jack” Thompson and wife, Gloria; grandchildren, Brad Thompson and wife, Tara, and Sheila Lantrip; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Thompson, Jake Lantrip, and his wife, Megan, Lauren Shepherd and husband, Sam, Kaison Lee, and Peyton Lee; and great-great-grandson, Jack Shepherd. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Thompson, and her parents. A gathering of Mrs. Thompson’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland, with her graveside service to follow at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

Richard Aaron Vega, 49, of Port Neches, died on Saturday, June 8, 2024. He was born on June 6, 1975, in Nederland, to Sue Ellen Ballance and Richard Lee Vega He will be remembered by his family and friends by his love of fishing, boating, and working on his trucks and his love of racing. He had a great sense of humor and his love of Dr. Pepper’s. He will always be remembered as a hard worker and there to help if someone needed help. Robert “Bob” Wayne Stegall, 72, of Nederland, died Saturday, June 8, 2024. He was born March 11, 1952, in Dedham, Massachusetts, to Therese Marie Downing Stegall and Herbert McKinley Stegall. He was a graduate of Dedham High School and a graduate of Mass Maritime. Survivors include his mother, Therese Stegall; children, Erica Stegall and B.J. Stegall; grandchildren, Promise Grant and Kyli Stegall; sisters, Anne Marie McDougall and husband, Billy, and Paula Stegall and partner, Tommy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
